ABOUT POLYTOTS

Polytots believes that learning languages should be fun. Using Montessori methods we incorporate games, music, movement and art in our lessons. Our relaxed, engaging approach helps to encourage a love for languages that lasts.

BONJOUR!

I'm Emma and I have run Polytots in Horsham for the past seven years. I've had a passion for languages since I was a child, when I lived in Brussels and attended a French-speaking primary school. The ability to speak more than one language gave me confidence, leading me to live and work in Paris and obtain a degree in French with German, and a Masters Degree in French translation

I adore working with children of all ages. Seeing and hearing them make a connection in the language, as well as having fun, is extremely rewarding.

MY APPROACH

Learning through fun

Fun is the key to learning. Polytots lessons use games, movement, songs, art and crafts and, occasionally, French food to entertain and stimulate.  With this approach children quickly learn to understand French words

and phrases, and to begin expressing themselves in French.

Exploring topics

Each lesson is based around a particular topic, where key concepts and words are repeated  in songs, reading through picture stories or in games. Polytots provides carefully-designed language lessons, which build incrementally, allowing children to soak up a grasp of French while having fun.

WHY LEARN A

SECOND LANGUAGE?

FrenchHouse.jpg

Learning a second language gives so much more than an academic skill.  Learning to understand and to speak another language can help to make children more expressive, improve their understanding of the world, and can aid all forms of learning. Their growing appreciation that other languages exist, and that an object or an action can have different names, lays foundations in children’s comprehension for learning languages in later life.

Young children are highly receptive and can absorb knowledge without conscious effort. As we all know, learning doesn’t remain so effortless throughout life, so learning a language early is a significant advantage.

TESTIMONIALS

WILLOW, AGE 9

I really love learning French with Emma because it is fun. I have been building up my French vocabulary, by playing games, with sheets of paper, baking pancakes and doing crafts. I am still learning more and more each week.

MANAGER, LITTLE MONKEYS

Our parents can't believe how much language the children pick up across their time spent in these classes. It's precisely why we have used Emma for years, and cannot recommend her enough!

TONIA, OWNER AT JACK & GILL CHILDCARE & FOREST SCHOOL

Emma had been coming once a week to teach the 2 to 4 year olds. She has a very calm and professional approach. The children were always engaged and very excited to see her. We (practitioners and parents) were totally amazed at how quickly the children picked up the language. It truly was so lovely to hear them counting, naming animals, colours, actions and so on and singing in French.
